Learning workshop: burbangana For primary and secondary students

Students in a learning workshop at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Students in a learning workshop at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

In this hands-on program for primary and secondary students at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, we connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and its diversity of practice across time, media and styles.

Led by a Gallery educator, this interactive program combines close looking at original works of art with a related art-making workshop to enhance student understanding of materials, artist practice and art interpretation. With a focus on the series Belonging 2021–22 by artist Grace Lillian Lee, students learn about Lee’s art practice and experiment with materials to create their own body sculptures.

Booking information

This workshop is adapted for primary and secondary stages and their relevant curriculum outcomes. It is designed for groups of 45 students or less. All materials included.
