Mana Sugimoto My porcelain dolls
My porcelain dolls celebrates the joys and turmoils of childhood, and all the subtle tones and blunt simplicity of it. It's a representation of my own personalities, phases and conditions of the past, but also an expression of experiences shared by all. Thus my work isn't just a doll’s house play scene – it's a homage to the many 'selfs' we've left behind, and will welcome again when the time comes. So where, and who, are your younger selves? Because here are mine, just eagerly waiting to be seen again, and remembered for what they once yearned for.
