My body of work explores deserted, urban architectural spaces that have been either discarded or renewed in recent times. In this work my intent was to comment on the ever-evolving nature of urban development and the social and emotional isolation in my local community. I used chiaroscuro to add drama to my representations of abandoned land, and sharp, geometric boxes in reference to the initial optimism of architectural plans. This is a stark reminder that planning bodies have the power to approve, design or revive spaces to be more conducive to individual wellbeing.
