Monstera explores the suburban environment of Sydney, highlighting the tense harmony between urban spaces and native bushland. Loose, gestural brushstrokes contrast with tight, geometric forms to represent a duality that characterises my local area, where native bushland meets suburban neighbourhoods. The title, Monstera, a popular houseplant, alludes to both the natural and the constructed, signifying the presence of the untamed natural world within suburban life in Sydney.
