Nina Carraro Abrasion
Abrasion investigates fragile and drought-plagued environments, where the power of nature provides life while destroying it. The plurality of surfaces and torn layers acts as a metaphor for the abrasive forces that affect all life. Fred Williams’ minimalist Australian landscape series and Gerald Brommer’s landscape prints inspired my use of torn edges and layered prints in depicting the multiple forms of the landscape, allowing me to investigate the fragility of the environment through the mediums of etching and monoprinting.
