Jack Combe Dillusions
When you look outside, buildings and cityscapes form the landscape of our modern lives. As a society we have moved away from the natural topography of our surroundings, and into a digital age where our cities seem to engulf us. This mirrors my childhood journey, moving from the country to the city, changing my landscape as I disconnected from one and connected with the other. I created the first piece of my work using only a palette knife, inspired by Philip Wolfhagen. The second, a landscape obstructed by glass. The third, an urban photographic image overlayed onto the original painting.
