My work explores the complexities of childhood. Children often show quirks and aspects of their identity that do not conform to the desired traits of innocence and naivety that adults project onto them. Children can project their own identities and influence others. In selecting models with angelic faces, positioning them in formal poses representative of ‘carte de visites’, and in my selection of costumes and props I have depicted aspects of childhood that are outside their traditional representation. I transport the audience into the elusive world of childhood, where children are influencers of their identity.
