Bondi’s true heart and essence lie in the people and community who inhabit it. Yet the people of this vibrant suburb, who embody its spirit and soul, are rarely the main focus in photographs of its iconic beach. For my work, 2026, I decided to intimately document the local faces, which are as ubiquitous within the sublime landscape as the sand and sea. My selection of location, background, framing and composition was spontaneous, forcing me to use the surroundings of the subject I stumbled upon, capturing that moment in time to depict a community.
