Carmel Meyer The night reveals

Work by Carmel Meyer

My body of work explores the concept of memory and dreams through the creation of a mysterious and nostalgic atmosphere in the work. I chose to explore these ideas through drawing in an unconventional way by colouring the paper in black and ripping back into it to create faces and landscapes. I was inspired by Bill Henson’s diptychs, where faces and landscapes are paired up in order to create tension and evoke emotions. The use of chiaroscuro in my work heightens the sense of mystery and intrigue.
