Work by Thomas Barkel

I wanted to explore the difficulty in creating art when there is no experience to influence it. Just being an average high school student I have very little that I wanted to communicate – I have not suffered because of terrorism or any life-changing disease, so I wished to explore the absence of any negative influence on my artmaking practice. I also attempted to explore visual ways of communicating the relationship between each component of the conceptual framework (artist, artwork, audience, world) and different animation techniques: I used Macromedia Flash to animate, as well as hand-drawing some frames.
