Chantelle Blake Incurable

Work by Chantelle Blake

There’s something so human about playing the ‘blame game’. Through contemporary concerns regarding sexual preference I have explored the cyclic nature of victimisation, accepting finger-pointing as an essence of humanity. Inspired by Barbara Kruger’s use of text, I aimed to incite a reaction, and I challenge the audience to interact with my work. The ‘queer = cool’ debate has been a driving force, inspiring me to incorporate aspects of the media and industry so that, even while expressing themselves, an audience is subject to subversion.
